Lil Durk Still Waiting on Bond as Feds Drop a Contraband Investigation Right Before the Hearing
The judge heard both sides Wednesday and walked away without a decision. Prosecutors used a jail footnote to argue Durk can't be trusted on the outside.

"To cause this young man to sit almost another year, to me, that's unthinkable." That was Lil Durk attorney Brian Steel in a Los Angeles federal courtroom Wednesday (Nov. 4), per Complex, and it still was not enough to get The Voice a ruling.
Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald heard arguments on whether Durk should be released ahead of his racketeering trial, now set for Aug. 30, 2027, and said he would issue a decision after more consideration. He called it complicated, and said he did not want to show favoritism because of Durk's celebrity.
The footnote that changed the mood
Hours before the hearing, prosecutors filed their opposition, and buried in it was a bomb. "The government is also investigating additional, potential criminal violations related to [Lil Durk] facilitating the introduction of contraband at the MDC," they wrote, according to AllHipHop. The filing describes an investigation, not a new indictment, and Durk has not been charged with anything new.
The feds also claimed he used other inmates' phone access, made three-way calls and used "contraband communications devices to make hundreds of phone calls." His team did not concede any of that in court.
Jay-Z, Rubin and J. Cole on the line
Lead counsel Drew Findling reminded the judge that Jay-Z, Michael Rubin and J. Cole had all backed Durk's release, an act he said "put their reputations on the line." The judge, for his part, said Durk had "indisputably attempted to flee" before his 2024 arrest, but wondered aloud whether it came from "guilt or panic." Durk was acquitted of murder-for-hire in September and remains in custody until Fitzgerald rules.
