Sports: Boxer Edgar Berlanga Arrested, Accused of Pistol-Whipping His Child's Mother
Edgar Berlanga is facing serious charges in Florida.

Edgar Berlanga is facing serious charges in Florida. The Zuffa Boxing fighter was arrested on one felony count of aggravated battery and one misdemeanor battery count, according to Yahoo Sports.
Court documents obtained by TMZ allege that during an Oct. 18 argument in a car in Polk County, Berlanga slapped the mother of his child and then hit her in the head with a pistol. Police say she got away, ran to a 7-Eleven, where bystanders called police. Officers reportedly noted swelling and bruising on her forehead.
TMZ reports the woman did not want to press charges, but police moved forward because it was a domestic violence case. Bond was reportedly set at $16,000, and Yahoo Sports says his arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 17.
Berlanga, 24-2 with 19 knockouts, lost to Canelo Alvarez in 2024 and knocked out Steven Butler at Madison Square Garden in July. Berlanga has not addressed the case in the reports, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
