Charlamagne Hands Trump and MAGA Donkey of the Day After Midterms: 'Your Services Are No Longer Needed'
The Breakfast Club host called election night a 'political funeral' for MAGA, then turned around and put Democrats on notice too.
"Your services are no longer needed." That was Charlamagne tha God on The Breakfast Club Wednesday (Nov. 4), handing Donkey of the Day to Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans the morning after the midterms, per The Breakfast Club.
"I'm not here to say MAGA is officially dead, but I know what we witnessed last night felt like a political funeral," he said, according to a transcript of the segment on Podcast Rex. Charlamagne framed the results as a referendum on 10 years of MAGA politics and said Trump couldn't distance himself from it after telling people to treat the election like he was on the ballot.
"You can't pay your mortgage with a culture war"
His big point was money. Charlamagne said groceries, rent, health care and gas prices are hurting families, and that voters stopped buying the promises. "At some point, people stop listening to what you're promising and start paying attention to what they're actually experiencing," he said. Then the line of the morning: "You can't pay your mortgage with a culture war."
He gave Democrats credit for running on affordability, housing and public safety instead of culture-war fights, shouting out names like Josh Shapiro and Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Democrats, you're next
But Charlamagne didn't let the winners off the hook. "What the F are you going to do with the power that we, the people, just gave you, Democrats?" he asked. He called out Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer by name and said he wants a real agenda on housing, wages and corruption in the first hundred days, not another speech about defending democracy.
His closing message went to both parties: the same voters who put you in power can take it right back.
