Foogiano Disses Gucci Mane on 'The Misunderstood Truth,' Buries a 1017 Chain in the Video

His third Gucci-aimed record in about a week is the most direct one yet, and Guwop still hasn't answered.

The split between Foogiano and his old label boss just got a lot louder.

Foogiano has released "The Misunderstood Truth," a new record aimed straight at Gucci Mane. HotNewHipHop calls it his fieriest Gucci song so far, and Baller Alert counts it as the third track he has pointed at Guwop in roughly a week.

The video does a lot of the talking. Foogiano is seen dancing on top of a 1017 logo, burying one of the label's chains in the dirt and smashing an ice sculpture of the logo, according to both outlets. It plays less like a goodbye and more like a funeral for his time on the label.

The heaviest shots reportedly land in the last two verses, where Foogiano brings up the snitching allegations that have followed Gucci for months. Gucci and the people closest to him have denied those claims, and no public evidence has backed them up. Foogiano also takes aim at how Gucci allegedly treated Pooh Shiesty and other 1017 artists, with bars about money and a lack of support when they ran into legal trouble, per HotNewHipHop.

The angle fans keep repeating, and the one our Short zeroes in on, is that Foogiano doesn't think Gucci took him out of the hood. He says he was already buzzing before the deal. That part of his story does have some history behind it: 105.1 The Block reported in 2020 that records like "Molly" and "Trapper" had already won him an Authentic Empire showcase and a path to Atlantic before Gucci called.

Still, Gucci was the one who put him on The New 1017 that year, and Billboard reported in 2021 that the deal was worth $2 million. Things went downhill fast. Foogiano was arrested in Memphis on a gun charge in 2021, reportedly cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor while out on bond and ended up serving a five-year sentence. Baller Alert reports that when Gucci cleared out the 1017 roster in November 2024, Foogiano and Pooh Shiesty were the only two artists he kept.

That makes the current fallout even more striking. Shiesty was later arrested and accused of taking part in the alleged kidnapping and robbery of Gucci. He, Big30 and seven co-defendants have pleaded not guilty, and the trial is currently set to begin Feb. 22, 2027, according to HotNewHipHop. Foogiano was released to a halfway house in April and made it clear early on that he was riding with Shiesty, Baller Alert reports.

Before this one, his warm-up records "Halfway In" and "Halfway Out" carried lighter jabs, including the line "I talked to Wop, told him I ain't like what he did."

As of Sunday afternoon, Gucci has not responded directly to any of the songs, per AllHipHop. His latest move was the album Against All Odds, a project built around his wealth, influence and legacy in Atlanta. Whether he answers with a record, a statement or nothing at all, this one doesn't look like it's cooling off.
